North Korea has successfully launched its first military spy satellite into space from the Sohae Satellite Launching Station. North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un oversaw the launch, claiming that the Malligyong-1 military reconnaissance satellite is now in orbit. The development raises concerns as it could provide North Korea with an unprecedented ability to monitor the military activities of the United States and South Korea.
North Korea is denouncing the United States for approving the sale of weaponry to Japan and South Korea. Seoul is planing to buy sidewinder missiles and Tokyo about 400 tomahawk missiles as the countries look to boost military assertiveness. Chris Gilbert reports from Tokyo.
