UK Defence Sec Says “We Must Re-Arm Britain”

The UK's Defence Secretary has announced "we must re-arm Britain", as part of Monday's speech outlining reforms to the Ministry of Defence. John Healey's speech comes following Prime Minister Keir Starmer saying the UK faces a generational challenge and calling on European allies to spend more on defence, having been left out of talks between the US and Russia over the War in Ukraine. US and Russia begin talks in Saudi Arabia on Ukraine

The US and Russia are beginning talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are in Riyadh for discussions Washington says will find out if Moscow is 'serious' about an end to the conflict. Neither Ukraine nor any European nations have been invited to the talks.
