UN condemns killing of Mozambique opposition officials

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the killing of Elvino Dias, an opposition lawyer, and Paulo Guambe, a senior official from the Podemos party, who were shot and killed by gunmen in their car in Maputo, Mozambique. Guterres urged all Mozambicans to reject violence as the country awaits the official announcement of electoral results.

UN suspends Gaza staff movement after attack

The United Nations World Food Programme has temporarily suspended the movement of its staff in the Gaza Strip. This comes after its team came under fire near an Israeli checkpoint while two of its armoured vehicles were escorting a convoy of lorries with humanitarian aid. Over 80 killed in Eastern Congo Attacks

    More than 80 people have been killed in a spate of attacks over the past week in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Local authorities have blamed the killings on members of an Islamist militia known as the Allied Democratic Forces. Chris Ocamringa (Otchamringa) has more from Kinshasa.

France launches manhunt after attack on prison transport

At least two prison officers have been killed in an attack on a jail van in northern France. French media are reporting that an inmate who was being transported has escaped.
