ECN concerned over low voter turnout

The Electoral Commission of Namibia has registered 823,761 eligible Namibians since the General Registration of Voters began on 3 June 2024. The highest numbers were recorded in Khomas, Ohangwena, and Omusati regions. ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka says there was a slight improvement in turnout in early July but expressed concern over the overall low turnout. Namibians will vote in the Presidential and National Assembly elections on 27 November 2024.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia has announced that since the commencement of the general voter registration, a cumulative total number of 366,036 eligible Namibians registered as voters inside the country and at all diplomatic missions abroad. This figure represents an average of 29,918 registered voters per day during the period 10 to 15 June 2024. ECN spokesperson De Wet Siluka.
