NamWater has announced planned water supply interruptions for Walvis Bay from 5 to 7 November 2024, due to final work on the Collector 2–Collector 1 pipeline upgrade. The project aims to enhance long-term water reliability in the region. Walvis Bay Council faces challenges identifying Otweya fire victims

Walvis Bay Rural constituency councillor, Florian Tegako Donatus says the process of identifying the true victims of the Otweya informal settlement fire is delayed due to false claims from people pretending to need aid. The council, alongside the government, is working to ensure assistance, such as food, blankets, and clothes, reaches those genuinely affected. Donatus also mentioned that strategies are being developed to prevent future fires.

Namibian Police investigate Multisave Supermarket armed robbery

An armed robbery occurred at Multisave Supermarket in Walvis Bay on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. According to the Namibian Police, three suspects armed with pistols robbed an employee at gunpoint outside the entrance and stole a bag containing N$313,725 and car keys. Investigations are underway. Several suspects arrested in connection with student’s death

Matheus Sheehama, a 24-year-old student reported missing in Walvis Bay, was found dead at Independence Beach on 6 August 2024. According to the Namibia Press Agency, the body was discovered by passers-by behind the Navy Base.
