Update On Military helicopter and regional jet mid-air collision in Washington

  Here an update on our 10am news story...A major search and rescue operation is underway in Washington DC after a military helicopter collided in mid-air with a commercial jetliner that was making its final approach to Ronald Reagan National Airport in the center of the city. A total of around 60 people are feared to have been on board the two aircraft. From Washington, Simon Marks reports.

Fatalities confirmed in Washington plane-helicopter crash

US authorities have confirmed there are fatalities after a commercial plane and military helicopter crashed at Ronald Reagan airport just out of Washington DC. At this stage the number of deaths is not known. A major search and rescue operation is underway, as teams search the Potomac River next to the airport where both aircraft crashed.
