NamPol launches search for fugitive prisoners in Zambezi region

Police have launched a massive manhunt for 11 prisoners who escaped from a police holding cell in the north-eastern Zambezi region. The trial-awaiting escapees cut through the roof of the Katima Mulilo police station before escaping. Locals have been warned to be vigilant as the prisoners were awaiting trial for serious crimes. Governor says Zambezi Region could feed Namibia

Zambezi Governor, Lawrence Sampofu, has called on investors to take advantage of the fertile land available in the region and invest in agriculture and other potential tourism activities. Pointing to an abundance of water, wildlife, fish and other natural resources including rivers such as Zambezi, Kwandu, Linyanti and Chobe, Sampofu insisted that the region has the potential to provide employment opportunities and food security for Namibia.

Namibia observes World Leprosy Day

World Leprosy Day is being celebrated today in the Zambezi region under the theme, " Beat Leprosy, End Stigma and Advocate for Mental Well-being".
