South Africa Faces Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Threats in KwaZulu-Natal and Free State

  The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 8 warning for distributive rainfall predicted over large parts of KwaZulu-Natal today and continuing into Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Free State Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has noted with concern the severe rains and thunderstorms that have caused damage in Welkom in the Free State. South Africa’s Free State Department Confirms Passenger Death Due to Hypothermia on N3 Toll Route

The Free State Department of Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements in S.A reported the death of a passenger on the N3 Toll Route. The department’s spokesperson, Zimasa Mbewu, says the passenger passed away yesterday as a result of hypothermia while travelling from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal. Mbewu says rescue operations after heavy snow began in earnest early this morning:
