SA’s Social Development minister, Lindiwe Zulu says shelters for victims of gender-based violence and crime have been central in providing care, safety, support, and healing. The department has allocated more than 211-million-rand for a period of four years towards 134 shelters rendering victim support services across the country. The department’s spokesperson, Lumka Oliphant, says the minister has appealed to the private sector to assist in supporting the work that is done by the government through shelters.
