De Chavonnes-Vrugt conquers the UTCT

Namibian runner Marietjie de Chavonnes Vrugt has finished 5^th amongst women runners in the Ultra Trail Cape Town event which was held in Cape Town over this past weekend. The race, which has a “hunderd mile” distance, required runners to complete 166 kilometers around the Cape Peninsula – a distance that De Chavonnes Vrugt completed in 37 hours, 53 minutes and 38 seconds. The UTCT as this event is known, is run over distances of 166 kilometers or 100 miles, as well as 100, 55, 35 and 23 kilometers in snd around the picturesque Cape Peninsula.
