South Africa’s DA has called on Eskom to confirm the status of the country’s diesel supply amid heightened levels of load-shedding. The party’s national spokesperson for Public Enterprises, Mimmy Gondwe, has raised the alarm as Eskom declares stage 6 load-shedding due to insufficient generation capacity and emergency reserves. Gondwe emphasises the urgency for Eskom to provide clarity on whether the country has run out of diesel or lacks funds to procure it for the open cycle gas turbines.
