In an effort to improve healthcare facilities and services, Katutura Intermediate State Hospital is currently undergoing a comprehensive renovation, as announced by Lukas Kondo, the Customer Care Officer for the hospital.

The renovation, initiated by BCODIA, aims to enhance the overall infrastructure of the hospital for the benefit of the community. Kondo took a moment to address the nation and provide essential details about the ongoing process.

Temporary Relocation for Patient Comfort

The most notable aspect of the renovation is the temporary relocation of patients to alternative facilities. This strategic move ensures that the renovators can carry out their duties with minimal disruptions while prioritizing the well-being and comfort of the patients.

According to Kondo, the temporary relocation plan includes the following changes:

  • Ward 3A and 3B: Patients from these wards are now accommodated in the 96-bed facility located at the main entrance of Katutura Intermediate Hospital, near the TV department.
  • Ward 4A and Ward 4B: Temporary relocation has been arranged to the Nurses Hall.
  • Ward 5A and Ward 5B: Patients from these wards are temporarily housed in the White Tent, situated between Windhoek Central Hospital and the Psychiatric Hospital.

Coordinating Visits and Inquiries

Kondo emphasized the importance of the public being informed about these temporary relocations, particularly for those planning to visit their loved ones. A smooth transition during this period will contribute to the efficient execution of the renovation project.

For any inquiries or additional information regarding the temporary relocations, Chief Registered Nurse Malima can be contacted at 061-203-164. This open line of communication ensures that the community remains informed and can address any concerns during this transitional phase.

Looking Ahead

While the inconvenience caused by the temporary relocations is acknowledged, Kondo expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation during this period. The hospital anticipates that these renovations will lead to an upgraded and more efficient healthcare facility, ultimately benefiting the entire community.

As the transformation of Katutura Intermediate State Hospital progresses, the commitment to providing high-quality healthcare remains unwavering. The hospital administration looks forward to serving the community with enhanced facilities and services once the renovations are completed.

In conclusion, Lukas Kondo’s update serves as a reassurance to the public, emphasizing the collaborative effort required for a successful hospital transformation. The temporary changes are a small price to pay for the long-term benefits that will undoubtedly contribute to a healthier and more resilient community.
