Oshikoto Region Reports 557 Cases of Child Abuse in First Three Months of 2024

During a Child Care Protection Forum meeting in Omuthiya, Petrus Kuutondokwa, Head of the Gender Equality, Poverty Eradication, and Social Welfare Division, revealed that the Oshikoto Region has recorded 557 cases of child abuse from January 1 to March 18, 2024. The reported cases include instances of sexual, physical, emotional abuse, and neglect. Samuel Shivute, Chairperson of the Oshikoto Regional Council, emphasizes the importance of reporting violence against children and protecting them from harm, exploitation, and discrimination.
