South Africa’s Parliament has announced that Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli will continue in his role as acting National Assembly speaker. This decision comes after the immediate resignation of Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula amid corruption allegations. Mapisa-Nqakula has emphasized that her resignation does not imply any admission of guilt regarding the allegations against her. Parliament’s spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, stated that Mapisa-Nqakula’s decision was motivated by a profound respect for the integrity of Parliament.
