SA’s Western Cape Premier Alan Winde voices worry over the detrimental effects of strong winds on electricity infrastructure as torrential weather hits parts of the province, resulting in at least one fatality in Paarl and damage to twenty-six schools. Power outages have affected various West Coast towns, as well as the Lourensford and Gordon’s Bay areas. Winde acknowledges the outstanding efforts of disaster management and emergency services personnel in safeguarding residents’ safety.
