India confirms withdrawal of its military personnel from Maldives

India has confirmed that all security troops stationed in Maldives have left and have been replaced by civilian personnel. Maldives new government, that came to power on a pro-China plank last year, had asked India to repatriate troops by the end of this week. The move comes as Maldives Foreign Minister held talks with his Indian counterpart in New Delhi – the first such high-level engagement since ties deteriorated. Priyata Brajabasi reports.
