Government Condemns Attempted Coup in DRC, Calls for Peace Initiatives

Background

Namibia has unequivocally condemned the attempted coup in the Democratic Republic of Congo, affirming its steadfast stance against unconstitutional power transitions. Minister Peya Mushelenga emphasized Namibia’s adherence to African Union principles, advocating for the rejection of any unconstitutional change of governments. Namibia also expressed support for the Southern African Development Community’s commitment to promoting peace and security in the region. Additionally, Mushelenga called upon the international community to aid in peace initiatives within the DRC, pledging ongoing support to its people.
