Capricorn Asset Management (CAM) is pleased to announce its partnership with the Namibia Equestrian Federation (NAMEF), a registered member of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI).

The FEI is the international governing body of equestrian sport. This partnership demonstrates CAM and NAMEF’s dedication to advancing sport in Namibia. As part of this sponsorship, CAM will offer vital support for the 2024 Namibian Equestrian Championship events in the disciplines of Eventing, Endurance, Show Jumping, and Dressage.

The sponsorship agreement was formally signed on Wednesday, 13 August 2024, by CAM Managing Director Tertius Liebenberg and NAMEF President Richard Frankle.

The goal of this partnership is to promote and develop equestrian sport in Namibia, whist maintaining the extremely high standards of both the FEI and the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C) with respect to performance and participation as well as impeccable horse welfare.

“Capricorn Asset Management is proud to contribute to the growth of the Equestrian sport in Namibia. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this sponsorship on the athletes, horse welfare and the broader community in Namibia and beyond,” said Mr Tertius Liebenberg, Managing Director of Capricorn Asset Management.

Mr Richard Frankle from NAMEF expressed gratitude and commended Capricorn Asset Management for its contribution to the Equestrian Sport in Namibia. At the recent meeting, he said, “NAMEF is grateful for the generous contribution to the development and recognition of
Equestrian sports in Namibia. Such contributions play a vital role in promoting diversity in the sport, development of our youth as well as ensuring that the lesser known sports receive the necessary funding and exposure.”

The first events under this partnership are the Namibian Eventing Championship in Otjiwarongo from 16-18 August hosted by the Reitgemeinschaft Otjiwarongo and the Namibian Endurance Championship in Swakopmund from 20-23 August hosted by the Reiter Verein Swakopmund.

This Endurance Desert Challenge event is notable since it also draws international riders from South Africa and Europe, and will be live-streamed for a wider audience.

This sponsorship builds on the success of the recent Africa Shield Eventing Challenge, hosted by Kapps Stables from July 19 to 21. The event, also supported by CAM, featured teams from Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia competing, with Namibia emerging as the victor.

Supporting sponsorships for less popular sports gives athletes more opportunities to showcase their talents and build successful careers.

This helps promote inclusivity, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement. Capricorn Asset Management’s financial support and increased visibility set an example for other organisations.

This support is improving the country’s sports scene, boosting national pride, and increasing Namibia’s presence internationally.
