Yango Namibia, part of global tech company Yango Group, has reaffirmed its commitment to operating in full compliance with Namibian transport regulations, following ongoing engagement with the Ministry of Works and Transport regarding public passenger permits for e-hailing operators.
Speaking at a media briefing in Windhoek this morning, Zanyiwe Asare, Head of Public Policy for Africa at Yango Group, set the tone for the company’s position: “Yango Namibia remains steadfast in its commitment to the Namibian market and, more importantly, to the laws that govern it. We are here today to provide clarity on our ongoing efforts to ensure that our digital platform operates in harmony with the laws of Namibia. As an international tech company, Yango’s role is to provide the bridge between passengers and transport providers through cutting-edge technology. However, we recognise that being a technology provider does not absolve us of the responsibility to foster a safe and legal ecosystem.
