The Nedbank for Good Series recently celebrated a major milestone of raising N$1 million since its inception in 2020.

This was achieved during round four of this year’s competition at the Mariental Golf Club on 13 July.

The funds are raised by auctioning various products donated to the series.

The coordinator of the Nedbank for Good series, Dan Zwiebel, noted that when it kicked off in 2020, the series which was previously known as the Nedbank for Autism Series, faced unforeseen circumstances for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With the support of sponsors and the golfing community, we were able raise N$ 133 155, N$ 228 200, and N$ 294 850 in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively,” he explained.

He added that even though the Nedbank for Autism Series had become a household name, there was a need to change and, to support different types of charities, hence the birth of the Nedbank for Good Series.

Zwiebel added that in 2023 N$250 000 was raised in aid of the Rossing Foundation National Outreach Programme, taking the overall tally to N$906 205 over four years.

“Following the success of 2023, the million-dollar mark was reached at round five of the 2024 Series, which was exactly our target. The milestone says a lot, and we need to thank all the players who have been supporting us over the years, our title sponsor, Nedbank Namibia, and all co-sponsors,” he said.

Meanwhile, after successfully hosting the sixth round of the 2024 Nedbank for Good Series in Orangemund a fortnight ago, attention now shifts to the coast, where three back-to-back events will take place in the next three weeks.

The first tee-off will be in Henties Bay on 17 August at the Henties Bay Golf and Lifestyle Estate.

It will be followed by the Swakopmund leg at the Rössmund Golf Course CC on 24 August, with the last coastal leg of the year set for Walvis Bay on 31 August and Windhoek Country Club on 14 September.

Zwiebel said preparations are going smoothly and they are looking forward to yet another successful delivery in the golf venues at the coast.

“The coastal leg has become a very attractive leg of the series, seeing quite a few local coastal players compete in all three events. Walvis Bay Golf Club and its members have always been very supportive of the auction, and we are challenging Rossmund Golf Course and Henties Bay Golf & Lifestyle Estate to follow suit,” he explained.

Nedbank Namibia Executive for Private Wealth and Bancassurance, Biniam Ghirmatsion, congratulated the organisers of the Nedbank for Good Series for achieving the million-dollar mark.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this monumental milestone with you. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that your organisation brings to the table. Your commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most is truly inspiring,” Ghirmatsion said.

He added that as the series moves forward, high standards of transparency and accountability must be maintained to continue to earn the trust and confidence of the sponsors and supporters.

This year’s series proceeds go directly to Agra ProVision, whose goal is to train, service, and support underserved agricultural communities.

After the coastal leg, the next Nedbank for Good Series will be at the Windhoek Country Club on 14 September, before this year’s series finals take place on 4 October at Omeya.

The 2024 Nedbank for Good Series is co-sponsored by Pupkewitz Toyota, Vivo Energy Namibia, Agra, AfricaOnline, JTC Namibia, APS, Erongo Marine Enterprises, The Logistics Company Namibia, Gondwana Collection Namibia, CB Enterprises, Pupkewitz Megabuild, and official m

edia partner Future Media.
