GWM has introduced the P-SERIES P500, bringing 255kW of self-charging hybrid electric power to the Namibian bakkie market. The all-new GWM P500 HEV aims to revolutionize the segment with its substantial size and high specification levels, setting a new benchmark with innovative features such as the 40:60 tailgate. In a Namibian first, GWM has launched a petrol-electric hybrid bakkie. The P500 Double-Cab bakkie is the first to feature a 325-volt electric motor, making it the second most powerful double-cab in its class. Available in both a 2-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid variant and a new 2.4L Turbo Diesel, the top-of-the-line P500 HEV delivers 255kW and 648Nm of torque. Coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard 4×4 capabilities, the P500 promises a powerful driving experience.

With a length of 5400mm and a width of 1991mm, the P500 is designed to accommodate five passengers and cargo comfortably. GWM has enhanced the load area with new features like an electrically operated rear sliding window, a loadbox equipped with 28 anchor points, a loadbox lamp, and a unique split rear tailgate for easier loading. Jasmin Emad Eldin, Brand Manager for Pupkewitz GWM, expressed pride in introducing this vehicle to the Namibian market, positioning it as a game-changer in its class, blending rugged off-road performance with a premium driving experience.

The P500 Hybrid’s advanced drive system combines a 78kW electric motor with a 2-liter 180kW petrol engine for a combined output of 255kW and 648Nm of torque, reflecting GWM’s leadership in New Energy Vehicles. Offering a fuel consumption rate of 9.8 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 225g/km, it boasts a towing capacity of up to 3500kg. A new 2.4L Turbo Diesel engine is also available, offering 135kW and 480Nm of torque with 8.6l/100km fuel consumption.

Built for off-road capability, the P500 comes with selectable low-range gears, front and rear differential locks, and 4×4 capabilities. The bold front design features a large grille with distinctive LED headlights and a 360-view camera. The P500 also introduces the first panoramic sunroof in a Namibian bakkie.

Inside, the P500 offers luxury and advanced technology, with a Knight Black interior, woodgrain-style trim, a 10-speaker Harman Infinity™ audio system, black Nappa leather seats with heating, cooling, and an 8-option massage function. The cabin also includes electronically adjustable rear seats and a soundproof windshield for added comfort. Safety features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Fatigue Monitoring System elevate the driving experience.

The P500 lineup in Namibia includes three models: the GWM P500 2.4T 9AT 4X4 Luxury at N$818,900, the GWM P500 2.4T 9AT 4X4 Super Luxury at N$908,900, and the GWM P500 2.0T HEV 9HAT 4X4 Ultra Luxury at N$1,016,900.
