Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) presented at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform’s Khomas Stakeholder Awareness Workshop on Water Resources Management recently held in Windhoek from 29-30 October 2024.

As a leading beverage company, NBL is working closely with key industry partners to tackle water conservation in Namibia amidst the ongoing drought.

“We are actively engaging with the Ministry of Water Affairs, the City of Windhoek and operators in the Northern Industry to enhance our impact and strengthen partnerships, said Franklin Angermund, NBL’s Sustainability Manager, who presented on the topic “NBL’s Journey Towards Water Efficiency Continues” at the workshop.

As a responsible beverages industry leader, NBL supports the Water Resource Management Act, by continuously focusing on improving our water efficiencies and taking a collaborative approach with key stakeholders to address our water challenges together.

The Namibian brewery’s commitments are to focus on internal responsible water usage, implement water saving measures and ensure effective wastewater management. Furthermore, NBL’s N$35 million investment into water conservations since 2015 has proven good returns as water usage has reduced by 7.5% compared to last year.

As a good corporate citizen, the brewery is currently in the initial stages of its social community impact project, partnering with Hanns Seidel Foundation to further enhance food security, while reducing the water demand and usage.

The two-day awareness workshop was an opportunity for about 70 representatives to engage on the water agenda, share best practices and industry insights. It is for this reason that NBL participated in the workshop.
