Bank Windhoek Partners with Afreximbank on Trade Finance

Bank Windhoek’s Chief Treasurer, Claire Hobbs, announced the bank’s excitement in partnering with Afreximbank for the Trade Finance Seminar and Workshop. “We look forward to learning, exchanging views, and ideas with subject matter experts, and exploring areas for collaboration as trade finance is a strategic focus for the Bank,” Hobbs stated. Bank Windhoek’s Head for Investment Banking, Gideon Vos, will be a panellist, discussing the theme: “Sustaining Financing for Oil and Gas Projects in Africa: A Case for New Discoveries in Namibia.”

Since Tuesday, 5 November 2024, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has been hosting the Trade Finance Seminar and Workshops (ATFS2024) at the Windhoek Country Club Resort. This annual seminar is instrumental in equipping Africa’s financial institutions, bankers, regulatory agencies, corporations, and legal firms to meet the challenges of financing transactions amidst economic uncertainties. The event will conclude on Thursday, 7 November 2024.

The seminar, themed “Promoting African Trade in a World of Digital Solutions,” focuses on the impact of digitalisation on trade. The gathering aims to equip the continent’s trade practitioners with skills to grow trade finance through shared African and international expertise and support Trade Finance practitioners with technical skills to navigate trade.

With Bank Windhoek as a sponsor, the event will address critical trade finance trends, tools, and offer training in innovative strategies to strengthen Africa’s trade ecosystem. The seminar will feature world-class speakers and technical training workshops covering a range of topics. Through its partnership with Afreximbank, Bank Windhoek has positioned itself as a Trade Finance Intermediary for Namibian trade transactions.
