The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), through its Integrity Namibia project, is organising a regional anti-corruption conference in Rundu, Kavango East region, on 3 December 2024. The conference will take place at the Kavango River Lodge from 08h30 to 16h30.
The IPPR’s Integrity Namibia project aims to build a national network of non-state actors that are committed to tackling corruption in Namibia. The project features a mobilisation campaign alongside a series of research-based interventions including publications and other activities on key policy, legal, and practical issues. As part of the mobilisation work, four regional conferences and one national conference will be held before the end of the project in 2025. The project is funded by the US Embassy.
The Rundu conference will focus on four main topics:
• Regional Governance Challenges
• Corruption and Threats to the Environment
• How to Utilize the Access to Information Act
• The Citizen’s Role in Tackling Corruption.
The conference serves as a forerunner to International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD) on 9 December. This year, we are proud to align with the IACD theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.”
The conference is open for the participation of civil society activists, private sector representatives, policymakers and implementers, journalists, faith-based organisations, academia, the youth, and other sectors of the broader public. A special effort is being made to invite local youth organizations to participate in the conference.
The conference proceedings will be livestreamed on the Integrity Namibia Facebook page.
Issued on 29 November 2024
