FNB Urges Customers to Protect Passwords Amid Rising Threats

today20 January, 2025

Background

FNB Namibia has expressed concern over an increase in crimes involving customers being threatened into sharing their banking passwords or OTPs. Communications Manager Kirsty Watermeyer, in a statement, highlighted that the bank collaborates closely with law enforcement to investigate such cases and support arrests. FNB reassures customers of robust security measures, including two-factor authentication, encryption, and advanced fraud detection systems. However, the bank advises customers to reduce daily ATM withdrawal and payment limits to minimize losses in case of coercion.
