Government has set aside N$12 million for rural electrification in the Hardap and //Kharas regions.

Deputy mines and energy minister, Kornelia Shilunga, says the funds have been set aside for the 2025/2026 financial year.

Shilunga said this in Maltahohe when she officially inaugurated the village electrification projects in that town.

The beneficiaries are in the Maltahohe informal settlement extension 1, August Dam and Kruiss Villages.

Shilunga further said that they are currently in talks with Nampower to supplement this budget with additional funds from the National Energy Fund to bolster the rural electrification in the two regions.
