Former FNB employee arrested after defraud pensioner off N$215, 000

A former FNB Rundu Branch employee, woman aged 34, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding a pensioner of N$215,000 in Rundu Kavango East region.

The suspect allegedly helped open an account for the pensioner, and she later deposited an amount of N$100 000 to herself and N$15 000 to her nanny and the rest to various accounts.

According to the region, Crime Investigations Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, the suspect, used methods of internet payment to access the pensioners account and managed to transfer an amount of N$215,000 into various accounts.

The pensioner allegedly deposited an amount of N$550 000 in which the suspect took N$215 000 from this sum.

Kanyetu further stated that she tempered with the banking system offloaded an unknown customers ID copy open an anonymous account forged the clients signature used the client’s cellphone number and transferred the client’s money in various accounts.

This transaction was done in a period of 2022 to 2024.

The suspect is set to appear in the Rundu magistrate’s court on Thursday, 26, March 2025.
