City police to expand drone fleet to fight crime

Windhoek City Police Head, Chief Leevi Ileka, says the department currently operates one surveillance drone, with plans to receive two more soon and expand the fleet to 10 by 2027.

Drones are part of a broader effort to curb crime, particularly in the city’s riverbeds and house break-ins.

Ileka spoke at the media engagement with Futuremedia News held in Windhoek today.
