Three individuals appeared in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing charges under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act and the illicit trafficking of goods under the Diamond Act. The case, which has drawn significant public interest, was postponed to 7 August 2025 as police continue their investigation.

The suspects were apprehended on Monday following coordinated police raids at their residences. The arrests are linked to diamonds stolen in the high-profile Namibia Desert Diamonds (Namdia) heist, a case that has raised concerns about security protocols within Namibia’s diamond sector.

Deputy Inspector General Elias Mutota

Namibian Police (NamPol) Deputy Inspector General Elias Mutota confirmed the arrests and indicated that an additional suspect remains at large.

“Investigations are ongoing, and we are confident that we will bring all those involved to justice,” Mutota stated.

The Namdia heist has become a focal point of scrutiny in Namibia, where the diamond industry plays a pivotal role in the national economy. Law enforcement authorities have been under pressure to resolve the case and ensure accountability.
