The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) this week launched a nationwide leadership election process to re-establish Executive Committees (Excos) across its regional branches, aiming to revitalise the chamber’s presence and amplify the voice of the private sector throughout the country.

After years without formalised local leadership structures, the initiative marks a key priority for newly appointed NCCI Chief Executive Officer, Titus Nampala, who is leading efforts to strengthen grassroots business advocacy and engagement.

According to the NCCI, the election process began on 17 April 2025 in Namibia’s northern regions, with the NCCI visiting 18 towns and village councils to engage entrepreneurs, explain the Chamber’s mandate, and assist in preparations for branch-level Annual General Meetings.

To date, seven branches, Ruacana, Oshakati, Ongwediva, Ondangwa, Helao Nafidi, Eenhana, and Okongo have successfully elected new Executive Committees.

Each Exco consists of 5 to 7 local business leaders, including representatives of micro-entrepreneurs, to ensure inclusive participation and diverse perspectives.

These committees will advocate for business-friendly policies, contribute to regional economic planning, and serve as a unified voice for their local business communities.
