South Africa hosts 3rd G20 Sherpa Meeting at Sun City

South Africa opened the third G20 Sherpa meeting today at the Sun City Convention Centre, bringing together senior officials from the world’s largest economies to advance negotiations ahead of the November G20 Leaders’ Summit. The three-day forum, chaired by Director-General of International Relations and Cooperation Zane Dangor, is held under the theme “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability.”

In his opening remarks, Dangor stressed the need for concrete, practical solutions and urged Sherpas to address growing geopolitical tensions alongside core economic issues. “We must move beyond rhetoric to deliver measurable commitments that strengthen global cooperation,” he said.

 

Key agenda items include coordinating on climate finance, refining trade and investment frameworks, and reinforcing global health security. Delegates will also prepare detailed policy recommendations on digital transformation, sustainable infrastructure, and inclusive growth for submission to heads of state in November.
