Background

Swakopmund, Namibia — Glamour met generosity as Catwalk for a Cause lit up the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre on Saturday, 17 May 2025, for a powerful evening of fashion and fundraising. More than just a showcase of couture, the event united the fashion community, philanthropists, and changemakers in support of six impactful charities, raising an impressive N$60,000, with each organisation receiving N$10,000.

This year’s event, organised by a passionate team and led by designer Petrus Laubscher, saw hundreds gather for an evening of elegance and purpose. The dazzling runway, featuring Laubscher’s latest high-fashion collection, was a stunning celebration of local creativity, talent, and identity, captivating audiences with every bold silhouette and shimmering detail.

But beyond the glamour, Catwalk for a Cause shone a spotlight on six vital Namibian non-profit organisations:

  1. Team Flippy – Supporting sports development across Namibia

  2. LR Youth Support – Advocating for children with visual impairments

  3. Raugh Elohim Foundation – Preventing baby dumping and caring for abandoned infants

  4. Henties Bay Frail Care – Providing care for the elderly and those with dementia

  5. The Are Rescue – Rehabilitating abused and unwanted animals

  6. Have a Heart Rescue – Offering free spay and neuter services to low-income communities

Each organisation was present on the night, engaging with guests and sharing stories that brought their missions to life, creating emotional connections and a deeper sense of community support.

The event’s success was powered by a committed team of creatives and volunteers:

  • Décor & Setup: Dalene de Wit (Touch of Serenity)

  • Photography & Film: Jolandi Grundeling (Shalom Photography) and Augusta Kiesewetter (Gussy Photo and Film)

  • Event Coordination & Styling: Anja McGregor

  • Event Hostess: Leone van Jaarsveld

The organisers are already planning to make Catwalk for a Cause an annual fixture on the social calendar by combining high fashion with heartfelt purpose. With its proven power to inspire, raise funds, and amplify local causes, the runway has become a platform for awareness, impact, and elegance.

“Catwalk for a Cause is more than a show. It’s a movement. It’s where style meets service and where every step on the runway means something,” said event founder Petrus Laubscher.
