South Africa condemns Israel air strike in Doha

South Africa’s government has condemned Israel’s air strike in Doha, Qatar, calling it an illegal and unprovoked attack.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the strike, saying it targeted senior Hamas leaders responsible for the 7 October 2023 attacks. The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation spokesperson, Chrispin Phiri, stressed that the country strongly opposes any action that undermines international law and regional stability.

Experts warn that the strike could escalate tensions in the Middle East and complicate diplomatic relations between Israel and countries critical of its operations.
