Hangala Foods celebrates 100% locally produced maize meal

Hangala Foods has officially commenced production of its new locally manufactured maize meal brand, Otavi Golden Maize, processed near Otavi in the Otjozondjupa Region.

This follows the inauguration of the newly established Hangala Ombanje milling plant on Friday.

The plant produces maize meal in multiple grades and packaging sizes, including super maize meal, special sifted maize and un-sifted maize meal sourced and processed locally.

Founder of Hangala Foods, Leake Hangala, provided an overview of the history of the farm.

Meanwhile, the company`s commercial manager, Robert Louw, spoke on the offtake agreements with local retailers.

The milling plant was constructed over a period of 18 months at a cost of N$35 million, and employs 40 workers, with 38 of them holding permanent positions.

The plant produces 50 tons of maize per day stored silos, with a capacity of 500 tons each.
