Choppies Namibia inducts first graduate cohort for 2026 national training programme

today4 March, 2026

Background

Windhoek, Namibia – March 2026Choppies Namibia has officially inducted its first cohort of graduate trainees into its newly launched 12-month National Graduate Training Programme, which commenced on 2 March 2026.

The induction ceremony, held in Windhoek, welcomed the graduates and outlined the structured training journey they will undertake over the next year. Participants will be deployed across multiple towns — Rosh Pinah, Walvis Bay, Windhoek, Oshakati, Ondangwa, and Grootfontein to ensure national exposure and hands-on experience in diverse retail environments.

The session was led by HR Manager Wilka Leonard, who introduced the trainees to the company’s operational standards, corporate culture, and performance expectations ahead of their official placement.

The programme is designed as a rotational initiative, allowing graduates to spend one month in key operational departments, including receiving, front-end operations, procurement, and store management. The structured approach is designed to equip participants with practical retail expertise, leadership capabilities, and business management skills.

As part of the initiative, partnership agreements were signed with the International University of Management and Triumphant College, institutions from which graduates will be selected annually.

Country Manager Deon Bauermeister said the programme reflects the company’s long-term commitment to developing local talent.

“Choppies aims to achieve a sustainable workforce, local employment and empowerment for the youth as Choppies’ contribution towards society.”

The launch marks a strategic step in strengthening local capacity within Namibia’s retail sector. The graduate trainees are expected to play a key role in supporting the company’s national expansion and broader development ambitions aligned with Vision 2030.
