Windhoek, Namibia, 4 March 2026 – For the first time, Namibia will celebrate its Independence Day across all 14 regions, rather than a single host town. Announcing on behalf of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Information Minister Emma Theofelus said 21 March remains a defining moment of hope for the nation. This year’s theme is “Beyond 35 For a Prosperous Future,” marking 36 years of independence.
With the nationwide approach, State House spokesperson Jonas Mbambo explained that each region will receive N$250,000, distributed through the offices of regional governors, to coordinate local events. The President will host a formal celebration at the State House in Windhoek, welcoming members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries.
Officials encourage all Namibians to follow announcements from their governor’s offices regarding local arrangements.
