A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 37-year-old man in the neck with a pen at the Harambee location at Otavi on Saturday.
The incident is one of three attempted murder cases recorded by the Namibian Police over the weekend including Lüderitz and Karibib.
In the Otavi incident, the victim was found unconscious after the stabbing, which occurred during an altercation.
Police said he was rushed to Otavi Health Centre before being transferred to Otjiwarongo State Hospital for further treatment.The victim is in a critical condition.The suspect initially fled the scene but was later arrested and is currently detained at the Otavi Police Station. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident in Lüderitz, a 27-year-old man was stabbed twice in the chest following an argument at a local pub in the early hours of Friday, at about 03h40. It is alleged that the suspect approached the victim to ask for a cigarette before a dispute broke out. The victim collapsed and was taken to Lüderitz State Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. The suspect remains at large, and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Karibib, a 36-year-old man was shot in the leg by nightclub owner (33)on Saturday at around 23h35 near Usab Night Club along Kapapu Road.
It is alleged that the victim attempted to attack the suspect with a knife before the shooting occurred.
