Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) was recently awarded with the “Overall Highest Trader Revenue Contribution” for the year 2023.

The award from the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA), showcases the NBL’s tax compliance and overall positive contribution to the development of the local economy.

NBL was awarded in the category of the “Highest Contributor of Customs and Excise,” which relates to the revenue collected mainly on customs and excise duties and Value Added Tax (VAT) for the period January to December 2023.

NBL continues to remain a proudly Namibian business that continues to invest in the Namibian economy. This becomes even more evident by the amounts collected on behalf of central and local governments totalling N$876 million for the 12-month period July 2022 to June 2023.

Upon receiving the award, NBL’s Finance Director Waldemar von Lieres says that “as a good corporate citizen, NBL is fully tax compliant in line with Namibia’s laws and regulations. Through this gesture we are pleased with the acknowledgement that we continue to contribute meaningfully to the country’s social economic business environment.”

He adds that this not only speaks to the company’s values of good business practice, but also goes a long way in positively impacting the lives of Namibians through tax compliance. This ultimately is aligned to NBL’s sustainability agenda of Brewing a Better Namibia for the future.

The annual award was presented to NBL by NamRA’s at the 2024 Taxpayer/Trader Appreciation Day event held on the 10th of April 2024 in Windhoek under the theme: “Expecting Taxpayers and Traders to Positively impact the livelihood of Namibians through Compliance.”
