The 9th edition of the NCCI Swakopmund International Trade Expo (SWAiTEX) kicks off on the 1 st to the 6 th of July 2024 at the Vineta Sports stadium in Swakopmund.

The event’s Official ceremony scheduled for the 3rd of July 2024 will be attended by H.E. Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, the President of the Republic of Namibia and H.E. Dr. Makgweetsi E.K. Masisi, the President of the Republic of Botswana who is the Guest of Honor at this year’ SWAiTEX and will officiate the event.

Other Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and business leaders will be also in attendance. Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is also expected to attend with a Ghanian business delegation.

The Expo will also feature Business seminars where panel discussions and presentations on relevant topics of interest to the business sector and general economic activities will be made to not only provide a platform for engagement and information sharing, but also influence policy direction.

These seminars will feature panellists from both private sector and government who will share experience and opportunities for local participation along value chains of various sectors of the economy.

Among the areas to be explored from these seminars include financing solutions for sustainable economic development as well as the potential for the agriculture sector and the associated opportunities along the value chain.

The seminars will also feature the launch of a report conducted with technical support from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the SADC Business Council on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine conflict on the MSMEs in Namibia.

The Expo event which is open to the public will encompass exhibitions by corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) including informal traders.

Other entertainment activities that are conventional to events of this nature including recreational entertainments and late performances of artists will grace the occasion not withstanding other unique leisure programs engineered for this event.

This annual flagship event of the chamber offers enormous opportunities for the local economy and the country at large through creating a platform to market goods and services as well as offering insightful information on key issues that shape the current trend of our economy.

The wide-ranging interest and attendance that goes beyond this region of Erongo let alone beyond our country offers an opportunity for participating entities to tap into diverse markets at the same time, increase brand awareness beyond the geographical boundaries.

Our assessment does indicate that this event provides enormous opportunities for trading, networking, insightful policy and best practice information, as well as brand marketing.

Local enterprises both corporates, SMEs and informal traders including OMAs are encouraged to take part in this unique platform that offers them access to a wide-ranging market as well as networking platform notwithstanding the reservoir of insightful business and policy information that will be offered for the duration of the Expo.

As the private sector representative body, the NCCI remains committed in its mandate to provide an environment where private sector can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of this country.

This event is just part of the blended programs that the chamber offers. We look forward to welcoming our visitors to SWAiTEX 2024.
