A 36-year-old resident of Singalamwe village in Zambezi Region sustained injuries to his head, chest, and hands after being attacked by an unknown man while responding to the call of nature.

Muyoyeta Simasiku said he wanted to use a toilet while in Katima Mulilo on Wednesday, where he and other relatives had driven to prepare for his late grandmother’s funeral.

Muyoyeta narrated that he drove to a nearby filling station, along Trans Zambezi road, but it did not have water, and he proceeded to the nearest bush.

While busy, Simasiku said he saw a man holding a grass slasher who began to assault him, causing injuries to his body.

He said the man grabbed his cellphone and demanded the keys to the vehicle.

Simasiku said he managed to get up and ran to the road, where he saw an oncoming vehicle.

He tried to stop it, but the vehicle continued driving.

He then walked to the Makaravan informal settlement, where he received assistance. Simasiku is currently admitted to the Katima Mulilo State Hospital, where is he receiving medical treatment. The vehicle was recovered along the NamPower road and returned to his family.
