Supreme Court of Namibia

The Judiciary has dismissed allegations by activist and politician Dr. Job Amupanda, who claimed a lack of transparency in the appointment of a second Deputy Judge-President. In a statement, the Judiciary rejected what it described as misinformation circulating on social media, stressing that such claims undermine its integrity and impartiality.

Deputy Director of Public Relations at the Office of the Judiciary, Vikitoria Hango, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to independence, saying that the Judiciary operates solely under the Constitution and the law.

“Let us be careful in terms of the information that we are consuming,” Hango cautioned. “The Judiciary executes its constitutional mandate independently and is solely accountable to the Constitution and the law.

If individuals believe that a judge may be conflicted on any legally recognised ground, they have the right to file a formal complaint through established channels or seek the recusal of such a judge in court.”

The Judiciary has reiterated its call for responsible public discourse and urged individuals to verify information through official channels before sharing unsubstantiated claims.
