In a decisive verdict delivered this morning, the Supreme Court dismissed the legal challenge Dr Panduleni Itula of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) brought against the President and other respondents.

The case, stemming from the 2024 presidential election, saw Itula, the IPC’s candidate, contesting the victory of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of the ruling SWAPO party. Presiding Judge Justice, Chief Justice Peter Shivute declared the election process fair and lawful, affirming the legitimacy of the results.

The ruling marks a significant victory for SWAPO, while the IPC and the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) faced defeat in their bid to overturn the outcome. The decision, announced at 10h00, brings closure to a highly scrutinized legal battle that has gripped the nation since the polls.
