The Namibian Police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old woman caught with Mr Price clothing items worth N$161 000, which she was trading at the Okuryangava’s stop and shop open market.

Nampol head of community policing in the Khomas Region, chief inspector Katrina Naukushu, told NewsOnOne that Mr Price managers alerted them after spotting their branded clothing being sold as second-hand items.

She said a sting operation was then launched, which unravelled at least 16 bags of clothing that were later found at the suspect’s residence.

“We arrested two Namibian women, one of whom is directly linked to the stolen consignment. The other 22-year-old woman was released yesterday, while the one in custody has been charged with theft and possession of suspected stolen property,” she said.

Naukushu added that more arrests are expected as investigations continue.
Also, senior inspector Silas Shipandeni, commended members of the public for alerting both the police and Mr Price management. He cautioned the public against buying goods from unverified street vendors.

“We are appealing to members of the public to please refrain from buying goods without receipts, or from individuals who cannot prove ownership,” said Shipandeni.
