Public health facilities across Namibia are experiencing a shortage of essential medicines, leaving some clinics in both rural and urban areas without basic treatments.
The Ministry of Health has attributed the situation to middlemen in the supply chain. Critics, however, have described the crisis as a violation of citizens’ right to healthcare.
Human rights lawyer Norman Tjombe said the shortages have a severe impact on local communities.
