Heavy rain causes flooding on C11 road in Hardap Region

Heavy rainfall in the southern parts of the country has made the C11 road near Lovedale, between Aroab and Karasburg, impassable. Continuous showers have brought around 130mm of rain to Lovedale, causing the local river to flood and overflow onto the road. Traffic has come to a standstill as a result.

Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area and not attempt to drive through floodwaters, warning that water levels could rise rapidly and pose a danger.

Rescue teams responded to a river about 120 kilometres from Mariental, where a man had become stranded in his vehicle. A boat was deployed, and he has since been rescued safely.
