Swakopmund couple robbed during evening stroll

Four men were arrested in Swakopmund after robbing a couple of their belongings during an evening walk.

The incident occurred on Saturday between 19h20 and 20h30 along Strand Street in Swakopmund.

It is alleged that the couple was approached by a taxi carrying four men, who jumped out and robbed the couple of their mobile phones and wallet before fleeing the scene.

The stolen items included an iPhone 16 and a cardholder pouch containing two credit cards, with an estimated total value of N$18 000.

Police say the suspects were later pursued and apprehended following a coordinated effort involving a Swakopmund patrol vehicle, Crime Prevention unit, neighbourhood watch members, as well as Hawk Security and Rubicon Security.

All four suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody, while investigations continue.
