President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says she understands that some residents are reluctant to accept the donated rice and relocation, as they are not used to it but she urges the governors and councillors to work together to convince the affected residents to understand the situation that they are in.

She made these remarks during her visit to the Zambezi Region to assess flood-affected communities.

“So we should really, as governors, councillors, let us work together, and see really how we can convince our people to understand the situation in which we are. It is also true when you are used to a place, for you to relocate is always a challenge,” said Nandi-Ndaitwah.

The president donated 20 boxes of purifying water tablets to the affected residents, adding that more boxes are expected to arrive in the region among other necessities, including tents and mattresses.

She further commended the Zambezi officials for handling the situation.

“But generally, I’m happy on the way you are handling this situation, and all the response that are coming.”
