Kunene Police Hunt for Escaped Inmates

The Kunene police are actively searching for two trial-awaiting inmates who escaped from the Opuwo holding cells on 26 December last year. Namibian Police inspector for Kunene community affairs, Vehangaiza Hindjou, revealed that Simon Ngejama, who's 16, from Opuwo and an unnamed inmate from Epoko village in the Omusati region escaped by cutting through the roof. The fugitives face charges, including housebreaking and driving with a forged driver’s licence.

Report on criminal case says there was enough evidence to convict Donald Trump

A report has been released detailing the Justice Department's case against U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Former Special Prosecutor Jack Smith had prepared a four-count indictment accusing Mr Trump of plotting to obstruct the collection and certification of votes in 2020 – which had to be dropped as he is about to be president again. Gauteng Community Safety Committee Urges Action on School Safety in S.A

  Gauteng Provincial Legislature's Community Safety Committee has urged immediate action on school safety as schools reopen today. The Committee has demanded urgent implementation of school safety measures outlined in the Focused Intervention Study. The report highlights violence, and weapons in schools. Zanu-PF Proposes Extending Mnangagwa’s Presidency to 2030

  Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party is advocating for a two-year extension to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's term, prolonging his tenure until 2030, a party spokesman announced on Tuesday. Reuters says no specifics were provided regarding the mechanisms to achieve this, including whether constitutional amendments would be necessary. Zimbabwe's constitution restricts the presidency to two five-year terms, with Mnangagwa's current and final term set to conclude in 2028.

118 Illegal Miners Rescued in South Africa’s Stillfontein

  South Africa's National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure has rescued 118 illegal miners in Stilfontein, North West, as of yesterday, with 36 confirmed dead. Rescue efforts are ongoing using a specialist-operated cage. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe stated that 82 arrests have been made for illegal mining, trespassing, and immigration violations.

Airport Cleared After Bomb Scare

Hosea Kutako International Airport has been declared safe after a bomb scare was investigated. Civil Aviation Authority's George Matroos confirmed no explosives were found, and thorough security checks cleared the area. The passenger responsible for the false alarm is now in police custody. Education Minister Lauds Progress as AS-Level Entries Rise

Education Minister Anna Nghipondoka revealed that 12,031 students, or 29.5%, are advancing to the Advanced Subsidiary level this year. Adding that this marks a notable improvement in the education system by c=contrast to the year prior. MoE Executive Director, Sanet Steenkamp: The Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress, Mahongora Kavihuha, states that while there has been some slight improvement, further action is required.
