Lightning Strike Kills 14 Cattle Near Katima Mulilo

A lightning strike claimed the lives of 14 cattle in the Kayenda Area, about 23 kilometres from Katima Mulilo earlier this week. According to One Africa TV’s NewsOnOne reporter, Ellen Shihepo, the owner of the cattle, Argrey Luseso, estimates the loss at approximately N$200,000. Environment Ministry says there is progress in courts expansion

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism is pleased with the progress in establishing special wildlife courts. In 2024, courts in Oshakati, Rundu, and Katima Mulilo handled 181 cases, finalizing 102. Ministry spokesperson Romeo Muyunda stated that efforts are ongoing to secure external funding to expand the initiative in collaboration with the Judiciary and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
