White House defends Trump response to midair collision

The White House says US President Donald Trump is "making air travel safer" by reviewing hiring practices following Wednesday night's fatal mid-air collision in Washington. Flights resume at Washington National Airport

Flights have resumed at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport after a mid-air collision that killed 67 people. A US army helicopter and an American Airlines passenger jet plunged into the Potomac River on Wednesday night - nobody is believed to have survived. Recovery teams have pulled more than two dozen bodies from the icy water. Caroline Malone reports from the river's edge outside the airport in Northern Virginia:
